I "rescued" a caterpillar from his happy home the other day and decided to make him my pet. He wasn't eating any of the leaves that I had given him. I turned to my trusty Google, and found that caterpillars are very picky eaters, and that you can always use an apple slice, and they should eat that. On Sunday night, I put an apple slice in his little home. On Monday morning, he was nowhere to be found! I had left the zipper open! I searched for a few minutes, but then I had to go to work. I figured that eventually I'd either have a butterfly fluttering around my house, or Landon would find him for me. Yikes. Well, I've rescued him once again. I got home tonight, and found him in front of my kitchen. YAY!! He's still alive!! I put him back in his home with another slice of apple, and a cherry tomato.
And I zipped the zipper.

Landon's first birthday!
We had a party for Landon over the weekend, and we had a blast! The weather was beautiful! He really got into his cake. Or should I say it got into him? He had chocolate boogers for two days! He was running on only and hour long nap, but he was such a sweetie the whole time. I had originally ordered his cake, but I got a hair up my butt and decided to be a Betty Crocker mom and make it myself. I've got to say, I think I did an ok job!

Our San Diego mini vacation.
I know that this was SO last week, but oh well.
Bootcamp graduation was nice, but it was already so crowded when we got there that we had to sit way down on the end. The speakers were so dang echo-y, that we couldn't even understand what they were saying.

We also took the boys to Legoland, and they had a blast! We asked some guy to take a group shot of us. We now have three family pictures. We all look thrilled, don't we?

My one year old.
I simply cannot believe that my child is already a year old! I figured I'd post his stats from his well-baby visit the other day. He weighs 22 pounds, 10 ounces, and is 32 1/4 inches tall. Let's see, a few of his favorite things are squealing, playing 'I drop it, Mom picks it up', snacking, and tearing things off of the bookshelves. His not so favorite things include, but are not limited to, the word "no", a grunt from mom that IMPLIES the word "no", eating a full meal, being told that he's all done playing 'I drop it, Mom picks it up', and being moved away from the bookshelves.

Holy crap, it's been a long day!
I'm so tired. I need to quit staying up so late! Today has been an extremely long, and busy day. I woke up late, so I was racing around the house to try and get me and the boys ready. Lazy me, left the suitcases from our trip in the living room, so I kept tripping on them. I was a half hour late to work, and had to mad-dash to prepare a circle time activity. I left work a couple hours early for Landon's well-baby visit, which is a 20 minute drive. My poor baby, he got 4 shots today. He cried. I cried. :( We left and went to the bank/grocery store. I had to pick up a few things for the dinner I was making for the sister missionaries. Landon was a total crankpot all night. Can you blame him? I would be, too, after getting all those shots! The sisters stayed for a little while, but they were on splits, so one left, and the other's member companion never showed up to get her, so she stuck around for another hour. I put dinner away, and then proceeded to stay up and spend way too much time on the computer. Ugh, it was just a LONG day. Maybe tomorrow I'll make it to bed before 10.

We're going on a trip!!
Clint's cousin is graduating from the Marine Corps Bootcamp this Friday. We're going to leave Thursday right after I get off work, and drive to San Diego. Clint is looking forward to showing me around Camp Pendleton. I have SO much to do before that. We all need clean laundry, so that means that between tonight and tomorrow I've got about five loads to do. We're usually pulling our clean clothes out of the dryer as we wear them (I know, I'm a total slacker). Do you think I can talk Clint into loading the dryer into the back of the truck for our trip so that I don't have to fold clothes and pack them into a suitcase?
Landon's birthday is on Saturday, and we won't be home in time to have his party. Instead, we're going to the San Diego Zoo! I'm so excited. Nathan and Landon are going to have a blast. We'll be home Saturday night. It's going to be a whirlwind trip, but it should be fun. Wish us luck!

My boys, the geniuses.
I've gotta brag on my boys for just a sec.
Today, the school had an awards assembly for the last quarter, and Nathan got a "Super Speller" award. He's an excellent speller, and almost always correctly spells all of the words, including the eight bonus words, on his weekly spelling tests. Anyone have any idea how we can just get him to finish the rest of his work on time?
Grandma has been teaching Landon the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" song. It's so cute, he does the hand motions with it! Last night I was cuddling on the couch with him, and he was saying "mama, dada". I wanted to see if he'd throw in an extra word. Another thing he'll occasionally say is "all done". It comes out as "ah duh", but you get the idea. I told him to say, "all done, mama", and he said it! He said, "duh, mom". He's a genius, I tell you! ;) I've also been working on some sign language with him, and he signed "more" for the first time yesterday. He still needs prompting, so I put his hands together for him, but then he does the sign on his own. He's such a punkin'.

Freako, Bizzaro
I have such a sweet husband. He won a gift certificate for a one hour massage, and gave it to me. Little did he know that it would lead me to the STRANGEST experience of my life!
I scheduled my appointment for 5pm. I got there a few minutes early, and met the therapist, Doris. Doris is 77 years old! She informed me that she had some sugar to eat a bit earlier, so she was a little wired. She had me sit down in her living room, and said that with my permission, she'd like me to use something. She said that it was very special and was divinely inspired. She handed me "The Bar". The Bar is a hunk of plastic with a magnet on the bottom, but it is "channeled to God, and has healing powers that will put you on your 'life's path'". I had a very strange feeling that at some point, the topic of discussion would turn to religion, and I suspected that if I told her I was LDS, she would laugh at me and tell me to leave her house. She put The Bar in my right hand, and indicated that I hold it flat for 5 minutes. She set the timer and sat 5 feet away from me (5 feet creates the best energy field, so I'm told). She said she wanted to tell me two instances in which this bar changed someone's life. FORTY-FIVE minutes later I'm still listening to this crazy woman ramble. I thought about just leaving, since it was already getting so late, but I wanted my massage, dangit!
She finally prompted me to the massage room. I got ready, and laid down. When she came in she checked my chakra. Have you ever heard of chakra? Yeah, I hadn't either. Chakra is an energy or life force. Your body has 7 chakras, and they can become clogged, and her job was to bring them back into alignment. Okay, so she was checking my chakra and informed me that my female chakra was clogged and I obviously wasn't being a very good wife to my husband. Ha!! I couldn't believe she said that! I seriously about died laughing. She obviously wasn't psychic, otherwise she'd KNOW that wasn't true. ;) Anyway, she unclogged my chakra, and the session continued.
Here are some of the things I remember her talking about:
*She's had 6 husbands, none of which are living anymore.
*Jim, one of her former husbands, still stops in to check on her every now and then. One of her clients actually saw him standing in her kitchen. He was wearing a suit and going through her cupboards.
*Everyone has a spirit guide. Her's was rude, so she asked for a new one. "You can do that, you know."
*She had a stroke about a year ago. After she'd collapsed on the floor, she had an out of body experience. A ball of lightning came from God, and entered into her female chakra (located near your uterus). It went up her body and into her head. It rolled around and around in her head, and then shot out her third eye chakra (in the center of your forhead). She was healed.
*She feels that she has another "partner" in life waiting for her. She's seen him in a vision, and he has dark hair and dark eyes. "But he's not Mexican. I've already been there and done that."
*"You have a very healthy and beautiful body. I typically get a lot of sickies in here."
Here's where it gets funny. She started talking about churches and asked me if I went to church. Oh dear, here we go. I answered, "yes", hoping she would just leave it at that, after the strange feeling I'd had earlier. She said, "Oh really? Which one?" At this point, I threw all caution to the wind, and proudly declared my faith and membership in the LDS church. She stopped what she was doing, but didn't take her hands off of me. She turned her head to the side, and started to chuckle. She said, "Oh, I was once a Mormon." ACK!!! She was ONCE a Mormon? She'd used a crystal to check my chakra, she had a pyrimid under the table to create energy, and now she was laughing at me and my faith. I suddenly felt less like a massage client, and more like a sacraficial object as I lie there on the table with nothing between me and her but a thin sheet!
I took a deep sigh of relief as she went on to explain to me that she'd learned some of the greatest things in her life and became a much better person because of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She told me of her conversion to the church, and her time as a member. It all seemed legit, with the exception of a few more "screw loose" stories. Her last husband was a former Catholic Priest, and insisted that she send a letter to Salt Lake to have her name removed from the records of the church.
At the end of the massage, she was quiet. She said that maybe someday she'll go back to church. "Maybe that's why you were sent to me", she said. I was flattered, but not moved enough to invite her to Enrichment with me. ;)
She waited in the other room while I gathered my composure, and said that she'd have a bottle of water ready for me when I got out. I got dressed, and went into the other room. She handed me a water bottle that she had OPENED for me. I thought, "Yeah. Right. And what did you slip in there?" I accepted it graciously and opted to just toss it in the garbage the minute I got home. Yikes. She hugged me, and sent me on my merry way.
I pulled out of the driveway at 7 o'clock, two hours after my scheduled appointment time. Did I feel refreshed? Heck no! All I could remember about what I felt the whole time was how thankful I was that I was lying face down with a head rest to hide all the freaked out expressions I had on my face.
Thanks for the gift certificate, Babe. ;)

Monster trucks!
We took Nathan and Stevie to see a monster truch show over the weekend. They had a blast! It was so dark, so the pictures are kinda blurry. One of the drivers was actually a guy that Clint towed into town a couple years ago. Charles was his name. He drove "Pit Bull", but Stevie kept mispronouncing it, "Pimple". LOL!
I'm the next American Idol.
We started Landon in swim lessons a few weeks ago, and he absolutely loves it. The majority of the lesson takes place in the therapy pool at the wellness center, then we move to the lap pool for the last few minutes. The therapy pool is about the temperature of a nice warm bath, so the babies just love it! Clint and I go together with him, and we all have a blast. One of the things we do is hold Landon while he lies on his back with his head resting on my shoulder. To help him tolerate it and anticipate "the end", we sing a song, sung to the tune of "I'm a Little Teapot":
I'm a little pancake on my back,
I'm a little pancake nice and flat.
I'm a little pancake on my back,
Flip me over just like that.
This Saturday, I won't be available to attend the lesson, because I'll be in Vegas doing some wedding shopping with my newly engaged friend, Merridy. I told Clint that he could go without me, or take one of the Grandma's to help him. He hesitated, and then said he didn't think he'd go. When I asked him why, he answered, "You do such a great job singing the pancake song, and I'd hate to ruin it." LOL!!!

Thanks, Becka!
I'm officially a blogger. I resisted, and resisted so'more, because I already have so much on my online plate. But, "everyone else was doing it!" What can I say, I cave under pressure. So, thanks to my friend, Becka, for creating it, I now have a blog! Do I hear an "exalt", anyone? ;)
